CELT - Customised English Language Training

customised to suit your business needs

My name is Tricia Hunter and I have been teaching English, mainly Business English, in the Rhine Main area since 1994.

After working as a secretary for 5 years in a Management Consultancy office in Dublin, Ireland, I moved to Frankfurt in 1981 and worked as a Buyer/Procurement Officer for the US Army until 1991.  While there, my work consisted of writing contracts with German companies who provided services for the US military in Germany at that time.

In 1994, I decided that, with my business background, I would like to begin teaching business English, so I went back to Dublin to complete my CELTA training.  I then began teaching for various language schools, gaining experience in the teaching field.

I started my own company in 2002, "Customised English Language Training" – CELT and, as the title suggests, I like to customise my training to suit the client’s needs.

Over the years, I have taught in a variety of businesses including the banking and energy sectors, the auto industry, logistics and tax consultants, among others. I take a very hands on approach to my trainings, I evaluate what the student already knows and try to build on that knowledge.

I try to give my students the confidence to communicate with other people, both native and non-native speakers.  Experience has shown me that most people have a good basic knowledge of English, but they lack the opportunity to practice the skill of speaking which is something I like to focus on.

I am a member and a former committee member of ELTAF (English Language Teachers Association, Frankfurt) where I held the position of Membership Secretary and Vice chair for 3 years.  I attend regular workshops which keep me up to date with the latest methods and innovations.

Apart from my teaching qualification, I have certification in One-to-One training and in Intercultural Competence, which is a favorite topic of mine.

I am also involved in developing exam preparation material for a leading publisher.
